The campus area is located in the beautiful surroundings of Polacksbacken about 3 km south of central Uppsala. The departments at Polacksbacken conduct research at the forefront of physics, information technology, chemistry, mathematics and materials science. Education of both scientists and engineers takes place in an environment with a strong research orientation.
The facilities at Polacksbacken campus comprise about 70,000 square metres, which constitutes almost 20 per cent of Uppsala University’s total premises. The campus accommodates about 3,200 full-year students and 1,700 employees. Together they produce about 600 publications and 70 doctoral theses a year, wehich is more than 10 scholarly articles and at least one new doctor a week!

The Information Technology Centre (ITC) is home to our IT-focused education and research programmes.
The Ångström Laboratory accommodates everything from chemistry and materials science to physics and mathematics.
The "New Ångström" Project
The “New Ångström” building project, the largest in the history of Uppsala University, involves two new buildings (Building 9 and Building 10) as well as relocationsthroughout the existing buildings to optimise operations at the Ångström Laboratory. Read more about the project here.
